The CS Foundation is offered by the ICSI, featuring a blend of postal tuition and optional coaching sessions. The syllabus includes four papers: Business Law and Environment, Business Management, Ethics, Entrepreneurship, Business Economics, and Accounting and Auditing.

Exam Pattern
The Institute has replaced the OMR-based examination with a Computer Based Examination (CBE) since June 2014.
You will still be assessed through multiple choice questions (MCQs). Each question will have four options, with one correct answer, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Marking Scheme for Computer Based Examination:
Day 1:
Day 2: 3. Business Economics - 100 marks 4. Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing - 100 marks
The Computer-Based Exam will be conducted in all cities in India and abroad where the Institute’s current examinations are held. The questions will be displayed on the computer screen in both English and Hindi, except for subjects like Business Management, Communication, and Ethics, which will have questions only in English.
Eligibility Criteria
If you have passed the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination from a board/university established by law in India, or any other examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent, you are eligible.
Provisional admission is available if you have appeared for or enrolled in a Senior Secondary (10+2 or equivalent) exam. However, you must provide proof of passing the exam within six months of applying.
Admission is open year-round. You need to submit an application using the prescribed Form FC-1, along with the necessary documents supporting your date of birth and educational qualifications.
You must pass the Foundation examination within three years from the date of your admission.
