NID B.Des Exam Pattern 2025

The prelims exam evaluates candidates on creativity, visualization, general knowledge, general aptitude, and comprehension.

NID Studio Test for B.Des Admissions

The studio test includes tasks such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, and more. Candidates shortlisted in the studio test round proceed to the personal interview round.

NID Entrance Exam Pattern Weightage for B.Des 2025

Final marks are calculated based on scores from both prelims and mains exams. Previously, the weightage was 40% for NID DAT Prelims and 60% for NID DAT Mains. The updated structure is:

The postgraduate program entrance examination also includes prelims and mains stages. Candidates are shortlisted for the mains exam after clearing the prelims.

The prelims for M.Des includes a Creative Ability Test (CAT) + Discipline-Specific Test and General Aptitude Test (GAT). The question paper contains objective and subjective questions.

Eligibility Criteria

NID B.Des Admissions 2025: Qualifying Exams

To be eligible for NID 2025, candidates must meet one of the following educational qualifications:

Passed the final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Completed the Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognized by the AIU.
Passed the final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
Completed the senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.
Finished any public school, board, or university examination in India or from a foreign country recognized by the AIU as equivalent to the 10+2 system.
Completed the HSC vocational examination.
Passed the General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level in London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka.
Obtained the High School Certificate Examination from Cambridge University or an International Baccalaureate diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
Completed an AICTE approved three-year full-time diploma after Class X offered by the Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories, as listed on http://www.aicte-india.org/statisticbote.php.
Candidates who have completed their final examinations for Class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board not specified above should provide a certificate from the AIU confirming that their examination is equivalent to the Class XII examination conducted in India.
