NIFT 2025 Exam Pattern - Written Exams

The NIFT 2025 written examination consists of two parts:

Creative Ability Test (CAT)
General Ability Test (GAT)

Candidates applying for B.Des and M.Des courses must take both CAT and GAT. For those applying to B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses, only the GAT is required.

Negative Marking

In the GAT paper, there is a penalty of 25% of the total marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates should be cautious when unsure of an answer. There is no negative marking for the CAT paper, which is drawing-based.

Test Pattern for NIFT 2025 - CAT

The Creative Ability Test (CAT) is a pencil-and-paper-based exam lasting 3 hours. It assesses intuition, observational skills, innovative development of concepts, design abilities, and creative use of color and illustration.

Eligibility Criteria

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will open the application process for NIFT 2025 in December 2024. Candidates wishing to enroll in design courses must meet the specific NIFT 2025 eligibility criteria detailed in the exam prospectus, which can be downloaded from the NIFT admission portal at nift.ac.in/admission. The eligibility criteria will include age limits, academic qualifications, number of attempts, and other requirements. Failure to meet these criteria may result in disqualification at any stage of the admission process.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Bachelor Programs

NIFT offers undergraduate programs in B.Des and B.F.Tech.

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - B.Des

Age Limit: Candidates should be under 24 years old as of August 1, 2025. A relaxation of five years in the upper age limit is provided for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- 10+2 pass from a recognized institute.
- Pass grade in Senior Secondary Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
- 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
- Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or abroad recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.
- Note: Candidates appearing in board exams during the admission year may also apply, provided they meet the eligibility conditions at the time of counseling/admission.

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - B.F.Tech

Age Limit: Candidates should be under 24 years old as of August 1, 2025. A relaxation of five years in the upper age limit is provided for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- 10+2 pass from a recognized institute with Physics and Mathematics as subjects.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).
- Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or abroad recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.
- 3 or 4-year diploma in any branch of engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
- Note: Candidates appearing in board exams during the admission year may also apply, provided they meet the eligibility conditions at the time of counseling/admission.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Master Programs

NIFT offers three master's programs: M.Des (Master of Design), M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management), and M.F.Tech (Master of Fashion Technology).

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - M.Des (Master of Design)

Age Limit: No age limit.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have:
- An undergraduate degree in any discipline.
- An undergraduate diploma of at least 3 years from NIFT/NID.
- An understanding of design fundamentals, as the M.Des program demands familiarity with basic design skills and theories. The course will not cover basic knowledge and skill development in design.

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management)

Age Limit: No age limit.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have:
- An undergraduate degree in any discipline.
- An undergraduate diploma of at least 3 years from NIFT/NID.

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - M.F.Tech (Master of Fashion Technology)

Age Limit: No age limit.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completed B.F.Tech from NIFT.
- Passed B.E / B.Tech from a recognized institute.

How to Fill Out the NIFT Application Form 2025

The NIFT Registration Form 2025 can be completed online via the official NIFT website. Ensure you submit the form by the deadline. Prepare for the NIFT Exam 2025 by familiarizing yourself with the essential topics.

Visit the official NIFT website at www.nift.ac.in and click on the "Fresh candidates to Login" tab.
Enter details such as Name, Date of Birth, Category, and E-mail ID to create your NIFT login ID. Click "Submit."
Upon successful registration, your login credentials will be sent to the registered e-mail address.
Log in using your E-mail ID and Date of Birth to fill out the NIFT Registration Form.
Enter necessary details including NIFT exam center preference, parent's details, gender, nationality, academic information, address, and contact information.
Upload a photograph and signature as required on the application form.
Pay the registration fee online or offline.
Once the application form is completed, print a copy for future reference. If paying by Demand Draft (DD), send a copy of the application form with the DD.

General/OBC-NCL candidates: INR 3000
SC/ST and PWD candidates: INR 1500

Payment can be made online (Credit Card/Debit Card/Netbanking) or by Demand Draft (DD).

Must be colored and taken in a professional studio with a white background
Facial features should occupy 80% of the photo

Forehead, chin, both eyes, lips, cheeks, and nose should be visible
No spectacles or glare on glasses

Signature Requirements

Must be in black color on a white background
Mobile phone photographs of signatures are not acceptable

NIFT Application Form Correction 2025

You can edit or update the NIFT 2025 application form in January 2025 if you made mistakes.

No changes or modifications will be accepted once the application fee is paid.
Test cities cannot be changed during the correction window.
Incomplete or incorrect applications after the correction window will not have the application fee refunded.
